I write to you tonight, from the comfort of my basement office. It more like a rectangicle really. Pretty small, but packed with musical gear, books and file cabinets. Why do I get the luxury of hanging in the basement, you ask? The occasion is the celebration of John Michael’s 11th birthday and Jackson’s 6th birthday. We are having a little get together, you might say. The guests of honor:
Blake Tate - most of you don’t know him, but he is one of John Michael’s best buddies.
Harry and Jack Richardson - Jack just told me that he can sleep in very small spaces, because he balls up in the fetal position when he sleeps.
Caleb Hosner - Caleb ate something, like a dead rat, and is slowing letting its digested remains become a sort of incense for the room. The boys think it rocks! Oh, to be six to twelve years old again.
Joshua Hosner - who valiantly played the
Dawgs
on the game cube earlier tonight. Props to you Josh for not picking the Tech Bugs!
Ethan Dirrim - sporting an Oregon Ducks T-Shirt, and a little cold. He’s being a trooper, though.
Gracie is hanging out with them, too. It’s kind of making Jackson wiggie.
Presently, they are watching Star Wars, Episode III:Revenge of the Sith - and it is about to come upon the part where Count Dooku gets his head chopped off. For his 6th birthday, Jackson gets to watch it for the first time. Nifty.
While down here in the basement, I had the opportunity to clean the rectangicle. It gets cluttered, not because I come down here and do anything, but because the kids come in while I am at work and they pull everything out and leave it all over the floor. While cleaning, I stumbled across my journals - and I read and reminisced various days between 1998 and 2004. You guys may not know this, but frequently, I sit down and write in the journal (kind of like a little girl’s pink diary), and I write mostly about what I am feeling and what has been transpiring in my life. What a great trip down memory lane!
I can surely say this after the life recap: God has been good to me and gracious in bringing me from there to here. Much has been learned, much has been experienced - joy and heartache and every feeling in-between. The one constant through it all, I can trust and depend on God to be unfailing, unwavering, unchanging - all while I fail him and change my mind and attitudes from day to day, and I waver in my ability to truly trust His promises. God is indeed good - He is the Rock that Shelters me.
My prediction: Georgia 28, Florida 24.

How you feeling about that prediction at the start of the 2nd half?
