Hangin’

There is something to be said for hanging around a Suburban, dead leaves on the ground, the smell of the burgers grilling in the background – and the stogies lighting up. There’s something to be said for five red and black UGA foldable chairs – and the one bug fan sitting in a green one. There’s something to be said for cruising Broad Street in Athens, looking for anything that will give us a TV signal so my pal can see the FSU/FL game, and then when all hope is lost – finding it on the radio.

There’s something to be said for hanging with five of my best pals in the world – brothers in Christ – men who love their wives and families – who seek to honor the Lord in all that they do – men who I would leave my children with instantly and without question or fear – men who love the Dawgs, ‘Noles, Ducks and Bugs with passion.

There’s something to be said for five wives that would give up a Saturday – so that the fellas could hang out and watch some football.

There’s something to be said for late whistles and missed pass interference calls and a seven minute drive that takes the ball to the house with just under two to play.

There’s something to be said for Reggie Ball – suitin up in the bug yella – but playing like he’s wearing red and black.

To these things, I say this: Thank You Father, for giving me life – and blessings – for each of these things is such – and such blessings – I am not worthy of. May the joy that we get from these things be a joy because of who we are in Christ – and may we reflect the radiance of your beauty and grace – as we enjoy this life that You have given. All good things come from You.

And all these things are good, fellas.

  1. God is truly good. Having understanding wives, great friends, and kids to pass along passions to are blessings we are not worthy of. I thank God for you guys-awesome friends-and ask Him that I would take my joy in Him, not in the many and wonderful blessings He has bestowed upon me.

Can’t wait for the Peach Bowl-my older boys are PUMPED up about it!!
