Abby Update

For those of you who may be following little Abby’s progress in her battle with Leukemia – here’s an encouraging update from her mom on her current status and the healing that she has experienced.  Continue to remember her in your prayers.

Public Journaling

Deep in the recesses of my brain, I had always hoped that blogging (at least the type that would emanate from my hands to the Bulldawgy page) would be a sort of journal.   Props to DaveE for describing it as ‘public journaling’.  I can live with that – and I kind of like it.

The only problem is the public part.  You see, I have this nifty little book that I write down stuff in about what is happening in the life of this mild-mannered accountant.  For what it’s worth, I write in pencil.  That way, if I mess up – I can fix it. ** all of the other OCP’s in the world will understand the need for some sort of unreasonable neatness in one or more facets of life, don’t ask how we decide which ones need neatness, it all makes sense in our minds. **  In that book, you might find things that are, well, not necessarily meant for the public.  Capece?

What do you do then, when the things you want to say in your public journal, are probably better left unsaid?

You write about chickpeas.

Chickpeas

What is a blog, anyway?

Some people who have blogs – write things that others are interested in reading.  The variety of subjects is wide – sports, news, religion, politics, gardening.   There is a blog for just about anything.  You name it – it exists.  Some blogs become so popular – that the owners are able to get revenue from their writings and ramblings.  Making a living giving your informed opinion and if not a full living, well then you have some spending cash in today’s difficult times.

Others have a blog because it is the thing to do – you know, everyone is doing it now.  And they go on supposing from day to day or month to month or however often they take the time to give their opinion on a few kilobytes of space on a hard-drive located in a Washington D.C. server farm – that their opinion matters to someone – other than themselves.   So, a blog in this form or fashion is somewhat self-serving – or pretentious.  But that’s okay, because people generally are as such.

In my day, I have been called many things.   Pretentious and self-serving – well, I don’t hear those too much – but I imagine that there are some more revered folk in the world who would stick that label on me in an email to their pals – but not to my face.  That’s okay.  Because people generally are as such.

All to say, this blog is really about….. nothing.

Every once in awhile – I get the notion that my opinion means something outside of my head – and I spit it out – out onto the world wide web.  And what does it really mean?  What does it really matter?  Not much more than a hill of chickpeas.
